The SFA is embarking a development program to increase the number and level of fencing referees in Saskatchewan. This program is being supported by the Ontario Fencing Association (OFA) and the SFA. The OFA has been recognized by the Canadian Fencing Federation (CFF) has having a referee development program that systematically works with developmental referees to a P level and beyond. In partnering with the OFA, the SFA has invited 2 of the OFA top referees to start our program.

The goal of this development program is to create strong P Level referees within the SFA.

The SFA program consists of two (2) weekend sessions. These sessions are mandatory to attend in full.

The first session is November 30th in Saskatoon at the Saskatoon fencing club:

November 30 – 9:00am to 4:00pm both days.

This is a classroom setting session. Bring or buy your lunch, bring pen and paper, plus come prepared by having read the fencing rules: https://fie.org/fie/documents/rules

The second session is during the Militia Open being held in Saskatoon December 7-8.

This is a mentorship session that will take place during the tournament. Applicants are expected to referee during the Militia Open and attend both days of this tournament. Make sure you are dressed to referee – shirt, tie and dress pants for men, dress pant suit or skirt and jacket for women. Please wear comfortable shoes.
